Holtsville NY— 4/25/2020 — JB Fortin Racing announced today that LFR Chassis will be providing support for Cahill’s Red Scooter Run. This event is planned to run on the iRacing service on May 3rd, to benefit the family of Ed Cahill who lost his life to the Covid-19 virus. The event will be twin 29 lap races around the virtual New Smyrna speedway with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour series race cars.
Ed was a long time fixture in the world of modified racing, first as a driver with his number 29 modified that he piloted around Riverhead Raceway and later he established himself as a dedicated member of several different crews over the year. Ed eventually landed with JB Fortin Racing and was an integral part of the teams 2019 Rookie season on the Modified Tour. Ed will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Event organizer JB Fortin had this to say about LFR coming onboard, “We were absolutely floored to hear that LFR also wanted to be part of this event and the celebration of Ed. With this announcement all three of the major chassis manufactures for the modified series have put aside their differences and come together all for Ed. I know he would have been amazed to see this happen. With everything going on in the world right now it is heartwarming to see such incredible competitors put their differences aside for Ed’s family.”
iRacing drivers who are interested in joining the event can purchase an entry through the JB Fortin Racing Website Store (www.JBFortin.com) or by searching for the event on Facebook. If you are interested in contributing to the event please contact Shawn Weaver at SWeaver@weevnet.com.
